The Power Grid Corporation of India (PGVCL) has launched the “PGVCL Apprentice Scheme” to offer hands-on industry experience to bright and aspiring electricity professionals. The Scheme offers job opportunities to high school and ITI graduates in the electrical energy sector. Through this, trainees gain valuable insights into the industry while they avail benefits like stipend and experience based salaries.
The Scheme is open to all fresh 12th Standard, ITI, and above graduates with at least 50% marks in the examination in Electrical Trade, who have attained the age of 18 years but not above 26 years at the time of application. Eligible candidates need to have undergone at least two years of ITI apprenticeship from a Government recognized institute in India. Applicants need to pass a written competitive exam, physical test, and interview, after which they will be enrolled in PGVCL’s Apprentice Program.
During the duration of the program, apprentices will receive a stipend at the same rate as a trainee technician grade II (Third Class). After the successful completion of the program, PGVCL promises a permanent position as a Technician Grade II in the organization. In addition, trainees also work on various real-life projects. The projects include electrical installations, line commisssioning, transmitter substation maintenance and operation, utility services and customer services.
